GRIBUSHIN HOUSE

This is the former estate of the merchant Sergey Gribushin, an architecture monument mentioned by Boris Pasternak in “Doctor Zhivago” under the name of “The House with figures”.

The building is situated at the centre of Perm, at Lenin street. It was built in 1895-1897 with the architectural design of Alexander Turchevich. Gribushin House is decorated with stucco work representing relief feminine faces ectypes.

Now it’s housing the Perm Scientific Centre of the Urals Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Its initial interiors are carefully conserved.
